Pictures from the Green Mountain Curling Club

After fighting with an inability to use Picasa Web Album uploads for a couple of days, I finally gave up and uploaded this set of photos from Green Mountain Curling Club curling to Flickr. I'll write more separately about the... um... fun I've been having with Picasa... but in the meantime, enjoy the photos of curling in Vermont! The set was taken back on October 28th. You'll note I was one of the skips and am therefore pictured next to the scores, but as documented here, Team York was on the losing end of both games. The first game was very close and hard-fought. The second game was actually close... until the other team took 4 in the 7the end - and then added insult to injury by stealing two in the eighth. Both games were quite a lot of fun. Somewhere in here I'll upload one of the other photos (not in the Flickr set) that will explain a bit of the... um... "challenge" we were facing that day with the ice.

When do you normally leave on Sat to go and when do you normally get back? I do want to go sometime soon but the schedule has been a bit crazy lately.

Greg,

There's a group that carpools and meets up at the Sheraton at 6:45am and then meets with others at the Richmond exit Park'n Ride at 7:00am. That seems to work to get us up there enough before 8 that we can be ready to go at 8. We have to be off the ice by 12 and generally people head straight home so you're back by 1pm. There are some people who only go up for either the game at 8am or 10am (but they drive separately - the carpool goes up for both games).

If you are interested, though, you should head over to the GMCC web site and fill out a membership form and get on the internal mailing list. Given that we can only accomodate 24 people per game, there are some weeks when the space is limited. There's a whole range of bonspiels that are also available to GMCC members outside the regular Saturday curling.
